Leanne & Adam's Wedding 1

It's not the most original title I've thought of but it'll have to suffice for now. Unlike my previous 'series' (which does have more photos to come although I simply haven't had the time to get off this precious arse of mine) this is the first installment in a brand new series of photos that I took at Leanne and Adam's wedding. It was the first occasion on which I had the privilege of being the official photographer for the day (indeed, I was referred to as THE PHOTOGRAPHER... three cheers for the photographer!) and, therefore, the one open to the full brunt of verbal arsenal should something have gone wrong. The camera didn't fall down a great big cliff, I only overexposed about 30 shots and nobody accidentally fell and got pregnant in the process.^

This particular photo was taken on the edge of a vineyard in Piccadilly, literally only 100 metres or so from where Leanne had spent some time earlier in her life. The sun had passed below the Mt Lofty skyline approximately 10 minutes prior to this photo, so the colours visible in the background were the after effects of a rather memorable, albeit fleeting, sunset.

I am completely, entirely and totally open to constructive criticism with this entire series as I have no doubt it will help me to become a more complete photographer, in the sense that it'll, hopefully, rake in the dough. ;)

The light is wonderful... the sky colours add a bit of romance even... the hands, though, are distracting and keep the focus from the coming kiss. The expressions are wonderful, too, so I see why you posted this one. Happy/joyful candid! Looking forward to seeing more!

@amy: Hi Amy. Thanks for the feedback...you know I appreciate a fellow photograph-her's opinions. This part of the day's festivities is what is commonly referred to in circles circling around me as 'freefalling' with regards to the subjects. They weren't under my guidance nor direction and took it upon themselves to firstly embrace and then kiss. As I was standing within 2 metres of them they decided not to take it any further. I never knew you were a fan of tongue wrestling. Good for you! ;p

Yes mate. Absolutely splendid. Great colours. It really doesn't look like a "flash" shot (speedlite?). Sharp focus. ISO 400 and zero noise. F2.8? New lens?
Saw the series on another site. The quarry shots are award-winningly and pant-soilingly awesome. Carry on Sir!

@Stu: Speedlite? Confirm. F2.8? Confirm. New lens? Denied! I borrowed Dachimas's powerful beast (L series) and speedlite to up the professionalism which, sadly, wouldn't have resulted in anything this clear had I not been prepared. Hopefully the significant other will see sense in using the moolah I earnt from the shoot as an investment so that I may have my own speedlite and... umm... other shit that I need. I'll throw some quarry ones up here at a later date. Cheers for the comment bruvva! :D

I like the spontaneity of this shot. The only little niggle from me is the position of their hands seems just a little bit awkward. But it is minor and really all that matters is what the bride and groom think of the shot in the end. I've had clients pick photos that I thought were not "the best ones" and overlook the ones that I personally favored so you just never know.

@Laurie: I sat down with the couple in question yesterday and went through all 500 photos that were taken. Some of their personal favourites were candid shots I took immediately after the ceremony and signing of the wedding certificate, when they mingled with the crowd, exchanged hugs and were generally left to their own devices. Although they surprised me on several occasions with the photos they really liked, I think all three of us were on a similar wavelength with regards to the non-stock photos during the wedding; Leanne had asked me to be the photographer at her wedding based on my style of photos that she had seen here on AM3. For the record, they loved this one because it wasn't posed and because I had intentionally opted to be a silent observer for about 5 minutes. In my honest opinion-and I mean this with all bias aside as this was a candid photo-I think their priceless expression of love outweighs any awkwardness derived from the positioning of their hands.
