ZoomLNZ from Los Angeles Area, United StatesI really like this image. The sign above really connects with the large-framed glasses. Excellent composition too. Good job. 13 Mar 2009 2:49pm @ZoomLNZ: Thank you. It was a spontaneous decision to ask Molly to pose and I think she did a great job. @Laurie: I'm glad that you like it, Laurie. Thanks for the feedback. Maia from Australiareally good photo! 14 Mar 2009 10:26am @Maia: Thanks Maia. Molly was a really good sport about the whole thing and I think she did really well considering that it was literally the first time that we had met each other. Thanks for leaving a comment. I appreciate it. :) Thomas from Adelaide, AustraliaHey, good photo, I was there when you took it, it really work out great. Good job, can't wait to see your other work. 14 Mar 2009 11:28am @Thomas: Thanks Thomas. If I had another chance I would ask her to stand underneath/in front of the sign and make her face the prime subject. Her hair and glasses really stand out, so I probably should have taken at least one or two where her face took up the bulk of the composition. Oh well, maybe our paths will cross again. Thanks for the feedback mate. ;) Josh Lemphek from AustraliaYou did a great job to capture the full Molly and good composition too. I would've liked to see her awesome pink tights in there too, but oh well. can you please mail me a HQ of this photo to Lemphek(at)hotmail.com Cheers, Lemphek 14 Mar 2009 1:45pm @Josh Lemphek: She was wearing pink tights that day? I can't say that I remember that but I do believe you. All I can say about that is that it would be quite a challenge to get her entire body (tights and all) in the same frame as the sign. However, I'm always up for a challenge. I will pass on the photo to your email as requested. Please be patient as I've been rather busy at work in the past week or so. Thanks for the comment. Molly Considine from Adelaide, AustraliaThis photo turned out great! 17 Mar 2009 10:26am @Molly Considine: Thanks for the compliment. And thanks for being an excellent model. I'd like to do another 'shoot', this time with only your face as the subject. Get back to me if you're interested and we'll discuss the whens and the hows. amy from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaThe juxtaposition to the sign w/ those spectacles is too perfect! Now I may have done a tighter crop in to her shoulder and down a bit more to the sign... ??? And Molly has it right... the light on her face is excellent!! 18 Mar 2009 5:06am @amy: A crop to the shoulder sounds splendid. I tried to crop around the sign but it didn't work out the way I had hoped because of the varying angles in that part of the shot. I'm not particularly fond of the brown areas in the photo either as the angles seem askew. Overall, Molly is the main focus in the shot and not the subtle inadequacies (which I will mame and/or kill the next time I walk by there) ;) Thanks for the suggestions, Amy. Keep 'em coming. Stu from Kyoto, JapanHa! Love the over-sized glasses and the sign. Looking forward to seeing your other posts on this theme. Like we discussed....not an easy thing to do, but judging by the first post it's working out. How you finding the 50d? Thinking about getting that (I have to be realistic about a) the 5dMkII being beyond my price range, and b) being beyond what I actually require it for). Have some concerns about the high ISO noise levels that I've been reading about on the forums and reviews but don't know if its just people pixel-peeping and over exaggerating it. I'm sure it's an awesome piece of kit but definitely interested in getting your thoughts on it. 18 Mar 2009 4:17pm @Stu: Cheers, Art! I can't take credit for Molly's spekky specs but I do appreciate your appreciation of my appreciation of Molly's appreciation of facial attire. The 50D is sen-bloody-sational, mate! I did a non-bloke thing the other day-on the bus on the way in to work-by actually reading the manual. Needless to say, I learnt a fair bit about the whys, wherefores, howthewhatsits and boomdittishabangs of how the 50D prefers to be pampered. I used to think it the quality of images depended on the photographer's craftiness (and good looks) but I have since learnt that I was way off the mark. Yeah! When I tried to understand what you meant by 'High ISO noise levels' the following message came up: Does not compute. Seriously, the noise levels are purely based on hushed tones. ;) Let's chat Monday night-7 pm central Japanese time-as I'm mustard to convince you why the 50D is supoib. Stu from Kyoto, JapanSounds good. I'll reserve that window in my otherwise hectic schedule... 19 Mar 2009 1:36pm |
