This is a location that Dachimas and I found roughly six months' ago. Here is a reminder - 'Fence posts at dawn 2' - of what this location looked like back then. One doesn't need to be the head of space aeronautics to see the extent to which the draught has affected this great southern land. At a guess, the water has receded no less than a kilometre since the original image.
Location: Lake Alexandrina, South Australia.
Help yourself to the blue cheese, but stay away from the green one.
nice image of desolation here. could benefit from a less static framing (maybe move the horizon down, reframe so the fence-post isn't smack in the middle); also, maybe stop down a third of a stop, to give it a bit more moodiness and draw out the rich, dark blue in the top-left corner...

@paulski: Hey, Paulski, thanks for the suggestions; totally agree with them.
My intention here was to show as much of the desolation as possible in a single frame, rather than making the fence post the central focal point - as it was with the related image. It was the last shot I took during the morning of the other sunrise shots (the two you commented on a few days ago) and, essentially, a throw-away snap for my mate Dachimas to ogle at and exclaim in exasperation at how much the location had deteriorated, which, incidentally, he did. What a predictable bastard he truly is. :)
I really appreciate suggestions on how my images can be improved, so please come back at any time.
Hey! Glad to find your site link. Fellow buzznet person here -how I loathe that site... a friend mentioned that Australia's interior is suffering from an increase in salinity in the soil do to the clearing of some native plant. Any truth to it or am I a complete loon?

@Brian: I'm honestly not an expert on the matter. Having stated that, your explanation seems plausible. We've done a fabulous job of destroying the better part of the planet, so it wouldn't surprise me if this, too, was the result of utter stupidity.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving your thoughts.
spelt 'due' as 'do' above.... my appa - logies
This sky here was really purple? Or this tone? Amazing stuff! Perfect capture!

I can't freaking believe this is the same spot that we squatted in mud and drank coffee in the half light of the predawn.!!! Sad...I wish it would rain...
Show desolation in a single frame...mission accomplished!

Great image, and I must add how much I enjoyed Fence Posts at Dawn 2 as well. Almost as much as the cross-cultural confusion comments over "gumboots". Fabulous!
