A fellow photography enthusiast and I recently went on a pre-dawn raid of the Barossa Valley. As we drove around in the dark not knowing what was in store up ahead, we noticed the light emerging from the east. Turning down a dirt road somewhere on the outskirts of Angaston, we finally came across a barbed wire fence that begged to be scaled. So we did.
This is the first of three sunrise / dawn shots I took that morning in one of the most famous wine growing regions in my state. Your thoughts are appreciated.
Location: Angaston, Barossa Valley (SA, Australia).
Help yourself to the blue cheese, but stay away from the green one.
Very nice silhouettes and colors, great framing.

Sweet man!! Very sweet! That amazing mauve hue to the sky is sublime down to the silhouette of the posts in the middle of the rising sun. Nicely framed with the fence leading the eye to tree and of course the star of this show.. the sun (no pun intended with the "star" but it's there now isn't it!! LOL)
Did the barbed wire score any poinits on your scaling??

@amy: I have three filters. I used the mauve filter (actual name escapes me at the moment) with this one. The star pun has been excused, although it's also been noted for posterity, in case you lapse and offend again. :)
The barbed wire fence didn't scar either of us as we're seasonal professionals when it comes to hopping over such fences. We each drive with a blanket in the back of our respective cars. And one rarely hears our muffled screams because when we do get snagged we've usually chosen a remote location for our random acts of phantom photography.
Beautiful silhouette and composition. I like this "more sky than land approach" very much.

@Andrew Gould: Cheers, Andrew. It was about two degrees at the time and my mate and I had just finished running across a hill to set up before the sun came up (or should that be 'earth turned sufficiently to reveal the sun?'). The rule of thirds works rather well when the bottom third is virtually black. However, the silhouettes of the vines do their part.
This is beautiful!

Great shoot and the tree do complement with the sun rising position well.
