...just another flower by night.
Help yourself to the blue cheese, but stay away from the green one.
Cool title, nice PoV, good work.

Nice macro there dude ... by night ? Is it the moon we're seeing ? On what kinda freaky planet you live ? :-D Very nice shot, as usual.

@Frederick: Ha-ha! The title is 'Supermodel by day...just another flower by night'. I wouldn't be able to sleep if the moon was that bright. :) Thanks for your comment, Frederick.
Fabulous.

Excellent style, making this really eye catching, even as a thumbnail. A credit to you that there is good detail in the petals, in spite of the strong backlight. Or was there some trick to this that you can reveal to us?

@Andrew Gould: Thanks for the compliment mate. Nothing secretive about this: It's a simple case of using flash in the daytime with the sun acting as the lens flare instigator. If you look at the bottom end of the flower you can actually see the rounded blackness of the camera lens that I wasn't able to correctly gauge.
Granted, this isn't the perfect capture of a subject using flash in the daytime but it was one of my first attempts at it (hand-held, too), and the lens flare gives it a well rounded 'amateur-playing-around' feel. I need to do more of these. It's Saturday tomorrow. Hmm...
;)
Absolutely wonderful! Did you use an extern flash or how comes that the flower didn't become too bright with it?

@Lucca: I didn't use an external flash (Panasonic Lumix FZ30) but I did adjust the flash strength before taking the photo. Thanks for your comment and question.
nice use of flash

It looks quite celestial Sash. And I really love it! The definition and depth of the petals is outstanding. Cool tip about the flash.. will have to try that.

@amy: Flowers are such intricate creations. It's a travesty to constantly capture them in a familiar light. This one deserves a runway. And heels. But no sunnies.
In a word: Superb. As Amy said there is something celestial about this. The shot makes it seem like it's not just A flower, but THE flower, the one that was the model for all that followed. Using the flash during the day is inspired. Excellent post Sashu!

@Stu: Yeah, this bitch doesn't get out of bed for less than $10,000. And she's a f&#king cow to work with. Should hear the mouth on her!
