The boy and the dragonPosted by Sash (Adelaide, Australia) on 12 July 2007 in People & Portrait and Portfolio. New Year's Day at a temple in Kyoto, Japan. A quick explanation about why I chose this treatment: The original composition (in B&W) was overexposed, particularly at the top of the dragon and the boy's headwear. The excessive whiteness took away from the overall feeling the photo was portraying, particularly what appears to be a tentative and even anxious moment for the child, as the mother guides him towards the water. I like the image so much that I made every effort to stifle the extreme nature of whiteness within it so that others observing it for the first time looked at the content moreso than the flaws of the technical aspects. I hope this makes sense. PS I'll be away on family holiday duties for about a week. See you when I return. Ooroo! Contact: sashkertes at gmail dot com
