Great colours and contrast here. I've had such trouble shooting at places like this because the white gravel can become so overblown, and the cloudy, hazy atmosphere of Kyoto is a beeyatch for photography. The gravel's reflection really nicely illuminates the building here though, and I like the composition too, the fountain is the subject...then the building....then the fountain....then....you get my drift.
It looks a bit like Heian Jingu but something tells me it's not. Can you enlighten me mate?

@Stu: Definitely Heian Jingu mate. I'm with you 100% with your assessment of Kyoto's sky, which is why this image has had a fair amount of PP done to it and why it's called red on white on white. The gravel was never the colour it is here, although as a high contrast image it works well that way (in my opinion).
