@travelingrant: Cheers, Grant. The peacock wasn't attempting to woo me but a kangaroo in the same enclosure. @Dimitrios: I'm glad you like it, Dimitrios. Thanks for the comment. :) @Wendy: I totally agree. It's a sensational set of colours and patterns. :) Thanks for your comment. Melanie from Geneva, Switzerlandgreat colors. I love the effect of your picture. 20 Jun 2007 8:41am @Melanie: Thanks very much, Melanie. The display is very convincing and I'm sure very hard to resist. Sometimes the animal kingdom allows us insight into the way it functions that's impressive beyond words. I was very fortunate to be there to catch a glimpse of it. :) Pixadilly from Anegada, Virgin Islands, BritishWonderful. I assume this bird is alive, and not just a painting. But it sure looks too perfect to be alive. Your work is often this wonderful. 20 Jun 2007 12:16pm @Pixadilly: You assume correctly, Pixadilly. :) I would be a complete and utter knob if I took a photo of a painting of a peacock. I'm not a knob. I was admiring the handsome fellow in an enclosure in a zoo in Cairns, northern Queensland, when he decided to display his natural assets. As the old adage goes, it was a case of being in the right place at the right time. PS The image is (slightly) cropped. amy from Rocky Mountain House, CanadaFABulous!! You cropped it perfectly and the colours are intense!! Just don't turn your back on these critters... it can just get ugly! LOL 20 Jun 2007 5:45pm @amy: Thanks for the compliment, Amy. As for things getting ugly, would you expect anything less from the male member of the species? ;) Yvon from Meerkerk, NetherlandsExcellent. The cropping makes it even more gorgeous! 20 Jun 2007 8:27pm @Yvon: Thank you, Yvon. When a bird as beautiful as this 'dances' in front of you without any warning, you've got to do your best to capture the moment as best as you can. I never realised there was as so much movement from when the peacock displays it's feathers/colours. It was impressive on so many levels. Thanks for your visit and comment. :) Stu from Kyoto, JapanVery dramatic Sash, ans as Yvon said it really heightens the effect. Very nicely done matey. 21 Jun 2007 2:27am @Stu: Thanks buddy. There wasn't a massive load of cropping, just the bird's legs. PsychGirl from Liverpool, United KingdomI've been looking at your pics sash, and they're all fab! You have an amazing eye, if my pictures come out half as good as yours I'd be made up! This one is stunning, peacocks really are one of natures wonders....... 25 Jun 2007 12:35am @PsychGirl: Thanks, PG. I rarely get compliments of this magnitude. Needless to say, I'm grateful that you've takent the time to look through my photos and leave such a lasting remark. Cheers! :) |
