The sunset on Mother's Day was a gift to all mothers from the world's foremost exponent of motherhood: Mother Nature. As luck would have it, a bunch of mothers and their respective husbands and family ventured down to Marino Rocks along Adelaide's western coast to watch the magic unfold.
This is the first in a series. I'll post a few more of this incredible sight over the next few days, including some longer exposures.
Help yourself to the blue cheese, but stay away from the green one.
Whoa! This is a cracker. You did well to keep the detail in the foreground rocks. Beautiful scene.
I was just thinking that a longer exposure would be nice and then I saw your comment.

@Stu: Yeah, I had a PL filter on, used the manual setting yet couldn't get any exposures longer than this one (1/4 sec?). I was bummed because a mate of mine was doing 10-second exposures with his filter. Sad times, Stu, sad times.
Great picture, very good colors and composition.

@kaveh: Thank you for those kind words.
Nice sky. Reminds me of when the volcano erupted in the Philippines and sent ash up into the sky. We had some spectacular pink sunsets in San Diego then.

@Alex Lee: I've only seen the types of sunsets you decribed on TV - and they were spectacular! I only wish that I could have experienced sunsets after a volcanic explosion. Unfortunately/fortunately, there aren't too many active volcanoes in or near Australia (in NZ is the closest, I'd imagine). Thanks for your comment, Alex.
Awesome colors and composition. Lovely sky too.
